An Adventurer, with no adventures, seeks an Antarctic Adventure!

By Stacy Trenary   July 2nd, 2010 | 11:42 pm

I'm entering this contest so that I can experience a conservation-expedition, as well as bring back knowledge and a great message of Antarctic conservation to my community! With me on this trip will be my long-time love and companion, Audra. Like me, she loves animals, nature, and conservation.

I'm a 29-year old Texan, but I've lived in Florida for most of my life. I have an Anthropology degree, and my other passions are zoology, biology, and paleontology. I actually work at a place that sells fossils! I work six days a week, and on my seventh day, I'm volunteering at Brevard Zoo! Our zoo's mission is "Wildlife Conservation Through Education and Participation." It's a mission that I couldn't agree with more!

Antarctica has always been one of our top destinations, but unfortunately we just don't have the funds. In fact, the furthest we've travelled together was Georgia! With Antarctica, we especially want to see what this incredible landscape is like before it changes. Seeing penguins in their natural habitat would be so astounding! During the time of dinosaurs, Antarctica was once a lush land connected to Australia! We want to see it as it is before Mother Nature changes it again.

The both of us care deeply about our own environment as well, and always try to do what we can to help (I can't go anywhere without taking plastic home to be recycled). We haven't seen any of the world yet, so its time for us to do, what we consider, the impossible! After all, what are natural-born conservationists and adventurers without the adventures?

So bring on the penguins and pinnipeds!
